_TRENCH
1. a usually double-breasted raincoat with deep pockets, wide belt, and often straps on the shoulders 2. a waterproof overcoat with removable lining designed for wear in trenches
Originally perfected for the British military during WWI, the trench coat is the result of scientific innovation, technology, and mass production, and represents the beginning of the modern wardrobe.

Inspired by its historical origin, the eventual insertion into civilian life and fashion, and many of the unchanged, though no longer functional, details of the coat, we reoriented the flat patterns to drape new silhouettes, and rotating the ideas of blue and white collar dress, considering the original wearer and society the coat was entering.
